About Ningbo City
Ningbo is located in the eastern Chinese province Zhejiang. The city is
the top ten largest seaports in the world and boasts over 7000 foreign enterprises.
Ningbo is one of China's top cities for investment, both foregin and domestic. But
unlike many other major cities prospering from rapid Chinese economic growth,
Ningbo boasts plentiful natural scenery, lush gardens, and is one of the top
ten cleanest cities according to the Chinese government.
The city's name means calm waters as Ningbo city rarely gets the full effect of
seasonal typhoons that other cities in southern China get (e.g. Guangdong, Shenzhen, etc). With temperatures
reaching into the low 30°C (90°F) only a couple months out of the year and
upper single digits of 8-12 °C (50 °F) during winter, Ningbo is a perfect place to travel
to, or live, nearly any time of the year.
Hangzhou and Shanghai are connected via major transportation hubs. Hangzhou is
a 2 hour train ride away, where Buddhist temples, and the Silk Road will surely get
your attention. Shanghai, with the newly contructed Lupu bridge that is the longest
steel arch bridge in the world, and its unforgettable skyline, is a bus ride
of only 1.5 hours now.
